Buena Vista Suites Orlando, an independent all-suite property, faced persistent in-room connectivity challenges driven by its building structure. Seeking a scalable, non-disruptive upgrade, the hotel deployed the Positron Access GAM (Gigabit Any Media) solution to deliver fast, reliable connectivity to every guest room without rewiring, through our Partner SONIFI.

 Before the upgrade, guest issues with Wi-Fi performance were frequent and growing. The root cause was structural. Each guest room is separated by concrete walls, significantly limiting wireless signal propagation and creating inconsistent connectivity throughout the property. While hallway access points provided coverage, the hotel wanted to improve reliability by extending Wi-Fi coverage deeper into each suite, including bedroom areas.

Traditional solutions such as Cat6 rewiring were quickly ruled out. Given the building’s concrete construction, rewiring would require extensive drilling, significant operational disruption, prolonged noise, rooms taken out of service, and a multi-month deployment timeline. For a high-occupancy property, this approach was neither practical nor cost-effective.

To overcome these constraints, the hotel implemented Positron’s GAM solution, leveraging the property’s existing coaxial cabling to deliver gigabit connectivity directly to each guest room.

SONIFI provided end-to-end network design and deployment support for the G.hn infrastructure, helping optimize performance while minimizing costs, operational disruption, and impact on occupancy. SONIFI also assisted with selecting and procuring the Positron equipment, configuring the network for G.hn deployment, and installing the connection points required for the new access points.

The deployment eliminated the need for invasive construction or structural modifications. Installation was completed quickly, with the full property upgrade completed within approximately one week. The solution also simplified in-room infrastructure by providing connectivity and power to the access points through a single device.
