Project Waves is a nonprofit organization operating as an internet service provider (ISP) that seeks to bridge the digital divide in Baltimore. In this article, we will highlight some of the efforts made by Project Waves, and the contribution of Positron’s technical solutions, to provide free broadband internet access to hundreds of Baltimore residents.
For carriers seeking to expedite their broadband deployment in underserved areas, the prospect of an in-building fiber installation for high-speed broadband is a daunting challenge. Fortunately, Positron’s G.hn Access Multiplexer (GAM) technology makes it possible to leverage a non-blocking CE 2.0 Carrier Ethernet Core to reliably deliver managed Gigabit services over existing infrastructure.
High speed broadband access is now more than ever a fundamental need for remote learning and tele-working, video streaming, entertainment and video conferencing especially with multiple users in the same household.
The Positron G.hn Access Multiplexer (GAM) redefines how fiber broadband services are extended over the in-building telephone or coax wiring to deliver Gigabit experience to every door.
Novus leverages Positron’s GAM to deliver high speed over older wiring. Novus is providing gigabit-speed services over Positron’s platform, and they have multiple buildings and 100 units in the field today using that technology.
Pierre Trudeau, President & CTO of Positron Access, has been selected on the 2021 list of “Top 50 Broadband Influencers, Innovators and Disrupters who are Connecting the World."
As Published in Broadband Communities Magazine, March/April 2021. Main Street Connect is a new apartment complex in Montgomery County, Maryland, that offers symmetrical 50 Mbps internet services and digital training for low-income and special-needs residents via a partnership with the county government’s Department of Technology Services.
As Published in ISEMAG.com, March 2021. Gigabit services delivered exclusively over fiber often bypass MDUs and garden home clusters because of the construction disruption and the high cost of bringing fiber inside each housing unit.
As Published in Broadband Communities Magazine, October 2020. When providing services in older buildings, operators increasingly turn to G.hn instead of deploying fiber because a fiber-centric strategy requires a massive investment to pass every door and many subscriber sign-ups to achieve economies of scale.
As Published in Broadband Communities Magazine, October 2019. Internet providers and building owners that want to offer gigabit services should investigate G.hn technology and reuse the existing copper wiring or coax cabling.
